Football players, fans, visiting band and the current Tiger Band played host to the Alumni Band for our 27th annual Alumni Night Reunion this past Friday evening, Oct. 10. Following 4 weeks of preparation and rehearsal, former Tiger Band members marched into Unkerich Stadium just one more time. The weather was perfect, and the crowd was outstanding, showing up to watch the Tigers battle it out with the Upper Sandusky Rams. Although the Tigers lost their fight, the combined Alumni and Tiger Bands proved to be very successful both on and off of the field!
The Alumni Band had an outstanding turnout for this seasons reunion. With flags, majos and the performing unit, we neared the 70 mark. Hopefully we will have a complete accurate count in the next few days and can share this with you!
Pre-Game saw the Alumni Band march down the field in their own block to Stand Up and Cheer. Both bands combined to play the Star Spangled Banner. Following this, the combined bands performed A Whole New World as the Homecoming Court was announced. Following the announcement of the 2008 Homecoming Queen, the band then marched into the GT formation and performed the the GHS Alma Matter, Hail To The Orange. The band immediately vacated the field for the football team.
Halftime brought the combined bands onto the field for Don't Stop, Sweet Home Alabama, and Gimme Some Lovin'. Both bands combined to do the traditional Ripple Bow. Upon exiting the field, the combined bands peformed the traditional tune of "The Horse" for a very receptive crowd.
Following the game, both bands entered the field for a post game performance of Le Regiment and the Script Ohio with the Outstanding Bandsman from the Tiger Band dotting the "I". Congratulations on that honor!
During the game, the Alumni Band held their annual meeting per the requirements of the Incorporating period Constitution. The meeting was called to order and elections were held to fill all Officer and Board Member positions. The constitution was placed into vote and was adopted as the official document for the Galion Alumni Band, Inc. New and old business was conducted, schedule of events announced, and the meeting was adjourned. Dues paying members were eligible to run for office and to vote. The new board is as follows:

Following all activities, the Alumni Band was invited to the Varsity Grille for a homecoming alumni reception held by the Galion Alumni Association. Those attending had a great time and a very late night!
Just a quick THANK YOU to all of those who helped to make this event a success. It could not have been made possible without the hospitality of Rick Walker and Jessica Barry (Asst. Band Director). Their hard work is very appreciated and we thank them for their time and efforts. Thanks to the Galion City Schools for the use of their equipment and facilities and to the Athletic Department for the use of the sports facilities. A big thank you goes out to Richard and Charlotte Tischer for the work of copying and organizing music on their own time. This was really appreciated guys! But most importantly...THANK YOU to everyone who attended this years reunion. Without the players attending we would not be able to celebrate this event.
