Alumni Band Members,

The Galion Alumni Band will be hosting a Christmas party this season for all active members of the Galion Alumni Band?  What do we mean by active?  If you performed with us in the 2009 season, or helped out in some way (IE: drive, decorate, file music, etc.), you are invited to attend!  Feel free to bring your spouse, significant other, or a friend with you.  This is our way of saying Thank You for the hard work you gave to help make the 2009 season a success!

This will be a potluck style Christmas party.  The Alumni Band will be supplying home smoked pulled pork sandwiches as the meat, as well as a vegetable tray and cheese spread.  We ask that you bring a side dish to share with everyone!

Pop and water will be supplied.  Adult beverages will be provided by Michael Swick and Matt Johnson.  We are asking for donations to help offset their cost for this.

This event will take place in the rear of Uptowne Outfitters in uptown Galion on December 19, 2009 following the alumni basketball pep-band gig at GHS (9:30PM?? approx).

If you plan to attend, we need you to let us know asap so we can plan for food / beverages.  Please send us the following information if you plan to attend:

Number of attendees in party:
What do you plan to bring to share:
Preference of soda type:

Thanks gang.  Hope to see some of you there!

Gang,

The alumni band has been invited to perform with the High School Pep-Band on Saturday, December 19.  We need to meet at GHS bandroom no later than 6:15PM for warmup and practice, then to the gymnasium for the game.  We will be playing out of newly created books that are currently being assembled by Brenda Treisch.  These books will combine both Alumni blue books plus the High School pep band books.

We will have a rehearsal on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 7:30PM.  GHS Bandroom.  We will use this rehearsal with the high school to review the new books and rehearse.  Please make this rehearsal if you can.

As usual, Alumni are welcome to perform with the High School pep-band at any home basketball game.  This invitation came from the basketball coaches, Mr. Caudle, Brian Treisch as well as the High School students.  Unfortunately we cannot have an unbalanced band.  In other words, we do not need 20 drummers and 0 tubas....or 15 tubas and 3 clarinets.  If you would like to attend a game, please email us so we can pencil you in or inform you if we have a full lineup for the evening.  We will try to take as many as we can on a weekly basis.

Thanks gang.  Hope to see you at the game on Dec. 19!

Gang,

We have been invited to perform in the 2009 Come Home to Galion Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 28 at 3:00PM.  The parade now starts at Heise Park, runs south on Jefferson St. to Harding Way.  Turn east on Harding Way and proceed to the Big 4 Depot on Washington Street.

We need to meet on Saturday, Nov. 28 no later than 2:30 PM in the grassy lot to the east of the old Waterworks Building on the corner of Jefferson and Church Streets.  We will have the float!  We need as many players as we can get on the float, so please try to schedule this one in!  It is not yet clear if we will be performing on the square following the parade for the tree lighting ceremony.  I will pass this information along as it becomes available.

Calling All Flag Corps and Majorettes!!!!  We would like for you to join us in this parade. Here is how!  We need volunteers who will walk the parade route along the float and hand out candy canes to the children who come to see the parade.  If you are interested, please contact me asap.  We could just as many that wish to join us!

We have scheduled a rehearsal for Sunday, Nov.22 7:00PM GHS Bandroom to go over some of the Christmas music for the parade.  If you can make the rehearsal this would be great!  If not, still feel free to join us on the 28th.

Gang,

We have been asked to once again play at the OSU vs Michigan tailgate party, a fundraiser for United Way in Galion, at the Galion Hospital on Saturday, 11-21.  This is generally a 30 minute performance and you are home in time to watch the game.  I still have not been notified with a time, but I need to get this email out.  Let's just plan on meeting in the hospital parking lot at 10:45AM.  If the time changes, I will pass it along.  This is always a good time!   We need players, so bring a friend (trumpets are especially needed for this one).  Thanks gang.  Hope you can make it!

Gang,

I have received the lineup information for Bexley on Saturday, July 4th.  Here is the schedule that you need to know:

6:45AM - Float & Stands will depart GHS.  If you wish to be in this early departure, please be at GHS no later than 6:35AM.  Float needs to be in place in Bexley no later than 8:30AM.
7:25AM - Caravan of vehicles will depart GHS for Bexley.  Please meet around 7:15AM for this departure.
9:30AM - Bexley 4th of July parade commences.  This is a 2.1 mile parade.  You should be done and back to the original starting spot around 11:15AM
Lunch will follow parade for those that wish to join.

We are entry number 103.  Lineup for this number will only be allowed from the corner of Broad Street and North Remington Ave.  We will be headed North on Remington from Broad to the lineup position.  This will be on the East side of the street.  We will lineup in front of house number 130 on N Remington Ave.

Vehicles will not be able to go down Remington for drop off and loading up.  You will need to park on the streets parallel to Remington.  These streets are Cassingham and Stanwood.

This may sound confusing, but once you arrive there it will make sense.  That is why we caravan / carpool down.  Makes things flow much smoother Smiley

I will have copies of maps, info for everyone the morning of the 4th.  I will also have some with me at community band rehearsal on Thursday.  Looking forward to a great performance gang!
